Dit gebeurt meestal via <b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"252\">magistrale bereidingen<\/b> of via de import van preparaten voor een individuele genezingspoging bij een enkel dier.  <\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Hoe snel werken fagen bij een infectie bij het dier?<\/b> Bij acute infecties zoals een blaasontsteking of diarree treedt vaak binnen <b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"172\">12 tot 36 uur<\/b> verbetering op. Bij chronische huid- of oorinfecties kan het iets langer duren, omdat de fagen eerst de bacteri\u00eble biofilms moeten doordringen. <\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15\"><b data-path-to-node=\"15\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Mogen fagen bij het dier met antibiotica worden gecombineerd?<\/b> Ja, de combinatie is in veel gevallen zelfs voordelig. Fagen en antibiotica werken vaak <b data-path-to-node=\"15\" data-index-in-node=\"153\">synergistisch<\/b>: de fagen verzwakken de bacteriepopulatie en doorbreken beschermlagen, waardoor het antibioticum (ook bij een lagere dosering) weer een duidelijk grotere effectiviteit bereikt. <\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"16\"><b data-path-to-node=\"16\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Waarom heeft mijn dier vooraf een fagogram nodig?<\/b> Omdat bacteriofagen zeer specifiek slechts bepaalde bacteriestammen aanvallen, is een <b data-path-to-node=\"16\" data-index-in-node=\"129\">fagogram<\/b> (gevoeligheidstest in het laboratorium) onmisbaar. Het zorgt ervoor dat de geselecteerde fagen exact passen bij de bij het dier aangetoonde ziekteverwekkers, om een ineffectieve behandeling te voorkomen.
